Retention
Quick Overview
A portion of a contract value withheld until all work has been completed. Typically a contract will allow for 2%, 5%, or 10% retention. The client will hold this final payment until the contractor has completed all work to the satisfaction of the client. This ensures the contractor completes the entirety of the job.
